These quilts were made some time ago, from a pattern in Quiltmaker magazine. They were fun to do and sewed up quickly. I think I should go back into the “pile o’ magazines” to see if I can find the directions to make another of these. I love the vibrancy of the colours I chose.
The purple one was given to a coworker who had a baby, while the blue one went to friend for his new grandchild.
Note: This is from Quiltmaker Magazine Sept/Oct 2000 and is called Antonio’s Star.
I love the totally non-traditional colour choices you made for these baby quilts. The vibrant colours make the pattern ‘pop’.
Hi,What is the final size of this quilt ?
Thanks!
Hi Dot, It’s 40 inches square finished.
I’m back again 🙂 My issues don’t go back that far. Can’t find it on line anywhere.
What is the size of the corner stones ?
TIA!
OK I figured 5 1/2 ” blocks.
I found something similiar in the Quiltmaker March/April 2013 issue, page 60.I like yours better.
Will play with it to make it without borders,40″ square.
Thanks!
Dot,
I’d love to see what you end up creating!
I just love your Antonio’s Star quilts. Would love to get the pattern. Thank you from Canada.
The quilt is from Quiltmaker Magazine Sept/Oct 2000. I don’t know if McCalls goes back that far with their digital downloads or not. I can’t even offer to mail you a copy of the pattern as I’ve just moved and have no idea where it is.
If you “math”, I can tell you that the small squares are cut 5 1/2 inches unfinished (5 inches finished) and that the big square in the middle is 10 1/2 inches unfinished, 10 inches finished. That should allow you to reconstruct it. The quilt finishes at 40 inches.
Hello Dear Lady,
I have started my project and I would like to send you a virtual dozen red roses for your help! You have just resolved my problem of blocks not fitting and star points not matching. I purchased this pattern on eBay from someone who sent the 3 pages but refused to send the ‘instructions insert’ so I just sewed the pieces together without trimming and the points didn’t work. I’m a fairly new quilter and this is my first star pattern and I was so frustrated and didn’t know what to do so I came back to your message and now understand. So I’ll pick out the middle section (3 rows) and re-do the one side of the quilt that I thought I had completed. I feel most grateful for your assistance. Thank you! Olga
