I’m excited to have some quilts finished. A quiet holiday season with some cancelled plans meant I had lots of time to finish some quilts. I started these quilts this year but somehow it feels like they have been languishing in the “to be done” pile much longer.
Quilt # 1 – Broken Dishes
This is my favourite out of all the quilts I recently finished. I had fun making half square triangles in green and beige into broken dishes blocks. I must say though, the only thing I don’t like is that the binding cut off some of the points around the outside of the blocks. That made me sad. It’s a small lap quilt at 40″ x 48″.

And here is another picture showing some of the back of the quilt. The back was a was a great place to use up some green and beige fabric that I have no recollection of buying!

Quilt #2 – Potato Chip Quilt
This quilt uses up some guild stash as well as some calico fabrics that have been languishing in my stash! It’s about 36″ x 48″ – a perfect size for small lap/wheelchair quilt.

And here is a picture showing the backing! I love how it works with the colours on the front of the quilt (and the binding!)

Quilt #3 – It’s Only Triangles!
This finished quilt, called It’s Only Triangles! is a free download at Jordan Fabrics. I love how the pattern makes the half square triangles look more complex than they actually are. I made a good dent in my red and dark blue scrap stash making this. Sadly, I doubt anyone but me would notice the difference in the size of my scrap pile however.

And here is a picture showing some of the soft flannel backing fabric! I love how the binding complements both the back and front of the quilt.

Quilt #4 – Busy Kids Quilt
I made this quilt to use up some small scraps of kids and novelty fabric that didn’t seem play well together. So I figured why not cut up the fabric into small pieces and see how that would work. I cut the fabric into 1.5″ x 6.5″ strips and sewed six strips together to make a block. I like how the placement of the blocks makes it look woven.

This picture shows some of the backing fabric. I think I found it at a thrift store. It’s busy but so is the front of the quilt!

I have two more quilts in the “to be quilted” pile that need to be quilted and bound but which are already layered and prepped to be quilted. As I’m not working next week there is a very good chance I’ll get those finished too! It feels great to be getting some things out of the to do pile.
Wonderful finished quilts! I love your color combos, and layouts too. Thèse novelties fabrics are cute and fun!
Thank you for sharing your pretty quilts and linking up with Patchwork & Quilts.
Wonderful finishes! I hear you about the scrap pile diminishing. . .I think I add to mine at least as fast as I use from it!
Hi Yvonne, thanks so much for linking up to FM Mavericks. Those are great quilts. Congrats on your finishes! Happy New Year!
Congratulations on finishing up so many beautiful quilts from your UFO list. It’s always nice to use bits from the scrap pile, but I think the scraps multiply while we are sleeping! Thank you for sharing on To Do Tuesday.
Congratulations! Not only these are wonderful quilts but you finished so many. Bravo! I have to say that I’m a sucker for HST so no1 and no3 are my favourites. Here’s to another productive year. Cheers! ;^)
