My quilt guild a few months back started a challenge for members to make Circle of Friends quilt block(s) and use them in a project. After some consideration, I decided to make three blocks and use them to make a table runner for my dining table. I went with scrappy brights far the stars and a constant black background like I so often do. Black backgrounds always make brights sing and blacks and brights are one of my favourite colour combinations.
I started with 2″ squares as I already had 2″ bright strips in my scrap bin. I thought of going smaller l but talked myself out of that really fast. The runner is 46″ x 17″ and fits my table perfectly.
Our Circle of Friends projects will be dispayed at the June guild meeting. This is the first time that I’ve finished a project done this far in advance of the due date! A huge victory for me!
Oh, that is such a great design! Your colorway just sparkles.
the rainbow colors look great against the black!
Love it! I tend to forget about using black as a background, but when I do remember, it is always a stunning look. Thanks for joining the Sew & Tell party.
Congratulations on the fast finish! I love when I get things done early so I can relax. I too love to pair black with brights. They make the colors pop! Your table runner as a result is stunning. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.
Those stars do shine against the black background.
What a vibrant, fun table runner, Yvonne!!! That black background!!!
I’ve always loved the Circle of Friends block but have never made it. I love how you used brights against the black background! It sure does make it sing!
