I started quilting around the turn of the millenium. My first finished quilt was this one:
I completed it soon after I started it. My second quilt top was this sampler (the one and only sampler I’ve made) was finished in 2020. No need to rush a good thing right?
A few baby quilts were made after that. And then sometime between 2003 and 2006 I made this quilt top (It’s quilted here as i forgot to take a before photo) shown below:
An ambitious project for a beginner. It took some work before I was able to quilt it. Lots of little fixes needed to be made – little things like ensuring both pieces of fabric were sewn when making seams. Jack(the Ripper) and I spent a bit of time together. The less glaring issues were ignored.
I backed it with a gorgeous Northcott flannel and crossed my fingers that the quilting would help this not altogether flat quilt top. It did and it’s my first finish for 2022.
I feel a weight off me now that this is finished! I have one more quilt top that was started before 2006. I’m aiming to finish that this year too!
Hurray! Congratulations! The quilt is lovely, and looks like a very challenging pattern. Great way to start a new year.
