Late last year, I made a fish themed quilt before Christmas for a coworker’s daughter who is expecting a baby in February. They were going with an aquatic theme for the nursery and I thought this would fit right in:
While surfing for ideas for this quilt, I ran across a pattern by Cloud 9 Fabrics for the cutest little fish shaped bags . When I finished making the quilt couldn’t resist making a couple bags using this pattern. As they’d go with both the nursery theme and the quilt I was gifting this I figured why not! I printed off the pattern pieces and in typical fashion started making the first one without reading the instructions. Instructions are for wimps as my husband says:
I liked how it turned out. The tail actually has a layer of batting in it and a wee bit of quilting on it. A few things about the construction didn’t go as smoothly as it could have.
So A second fish shaped bag was made, this time following the instructions. It went together with much less difficulty. Once read, the instructions were clear and easy to follow.
It was fun going through the huge button box I have to find just the right set of buttons for the eyes – each fish shaped bag has two buttons, one on each of the front and back.
The quilt and the fish shaped bags were very well received by both my coworker and the mom-to-be!
I can definitely see making more of these should the right occasion arise.
Those are way too cute! I don’t always read directions well enough to make a quilt or whatever the “easy” way. But sometimes the hard way works too.
These are really cute and will make a great useful to the nursery theme. Thank you for the link to the pattern. Thanks for sharing in my Linky Party. I am really enjoying all the inspiration … 🙂 Pat
Those fish bags are adorable!
I’ve seen these fish bags before…a long, long time ago! It’s nice to see them again and yours are adorable! Following directions/instructions are one thing I don’t do well at all!
So adorable! Thanks for sharing the link.
Super cute bags! Perfect for a fish themed nursery. Thanks for sharing on Wednesday Wait Loss.
