Diamond Brights - Finished

Progress Has Been Made

Posted on June 21, 2020October 24, 2020

Though I’ve been in a funk and not very motivated I’ve not allowed myself to stop sewing. I haven’t had the same joy in it I normally do but that’s okay I’ve managed to get one UFO and one current year start finished this weekend. That progress has actually energized me and I’m pumped to get something else finished this week – most likely a table runner. Once that is done i can plan from there. Hopefully my mojo is back by then.

I have the first week of July off and I think I’m going to allow myself the luxury of a brand new project. I think some of my funk is that I want to start something new. Now the question is what to start!

On Saturday I finally applied the binding to the quilt I finished last week.

Easy Happy Blc

The backing was some fun kite fabric that has been in my stash for years. The picture is pre-binding.

I’m happy how this turned out! It’s my third Happy Blocks UFO this year. I’m caught up on my Happy Blocks quilts. All three that were started last year are now finished and ready to donate. And I haven’t yet started any this year.

I also finished my Diamond Brights quilt this weekend.

Diamond Brights - Finished

The backing was a fun 60″ fabric I found in my stash. While not quite perfect this saved me from having to piece the backing. I used a wool batting. So luxurious but we are keeping this one for ourselves and hubby loves 100% wool or cotton batting. I don’t do charity quilts or baby quilts with  wool batting as the extra TLC needed might not happen.

A close up of the quilting is here.

I’m glad I kept plugging way even when my mojo disappeared. Thanks to my self discipline I got two quilts finished this weekend and I have a plan for the third that could very well get done before the weekend.!  If I keep this up I should to have less UFOs going into 2021 less than I did in 2020 despite all the new starts I’ve allowed myself.

Ooh I’m a big fan of Happy Block quilts also. Yours turned out so very cute. And the kites fabric was great for it. Diamond Brights is another fun quilt. I really like the bright fabrics with the navy.

Both of your quilt finishes are fabulous! I love all the cheery prints in the Happy Blocks quilt, and the rainbow colors really glow against the navy background in Bright Diamonds!

    It’s so pretty!
My funk is so many projects started that I can’t decide what to work on…so most times I just don’t.

Congratulations on two finishes! It is always so nice when you can find a backing that is wide enough without the need for a seam.

Great job with TWO finishes to show for yourself! I find that my motivation is really sagging lately, too. For me, the hardest part is just getting the energy up to go into my studio and turn on the machine. Once I start quilting, especially if I’m listening to a good podcast or something, I’m fine. But there are too many days where I can’t even get started! Thank goodness my current project on the frame is bright, cheerful fabrics that I love, because if I had something dark and dreary in progress there would be no hope for me at all!

I can totally relate to losing your mojo! All I think about though when I see your with us how lovely they are. Especially the Diamond Brights quilt… So lovely! I hope that starting a new project will energize you because I love your quilts. Thanks for sharing on Wednesday Wait Loss.

Love both your finishes! I hope your mojo returns soon, I think lots of us feel similarly. Keep plugging away, the joy is more likely to return if you don’t give up entirely (I hope, since that’s my theory over here). And in the meantime we all love seeing your finishes. Thanks for linking up with the Chameleon’s Colour & Inspiration Tuesday. 🙂
