Scrap quilting makes me happy! What is better on a dull and cold winter’s day than staying inside and playing with a box of scrappy squares?
This quilt top was started during those short days of wintery gloom when was spring is just a distant dream. While I usually go for brights, this quilt called for floral pastel fabrics that said “spring”.
I love all the soft warm colours in it! Is it spring yet?
It’s now in the pile of flimsies to be quilted. I’m thinking of backing it with polar fleece to make it extra cozy!
Another quilt top I have been working on is this one inspired by a quilt I saw on the Wedding Dress Blue blog.
Intitially, I was planning to do this all scrappy. After making a few scrappy white 4-patch background blocks I realised that the eye needed some place to rest. So I changed my plans and used a constant background. The background is actully darker and more tan than it appears in the photo.
I’m musing about making this again at some point using half square triangles or flying geese on the outer four patches to give it a bit more interest and a picket fence type of look.
While I’m tempted to start another scrappy quilt immediately because scrap quilting makes me happy, I do have three quilts layered and ready to be quilted. I should do at least one of those before starting a new project. Let’s see how I do with that goal.
Both quilts are wonderful and both look fun to plan and piece. Very nice!
Such cute scrappy tops! They make me happy just looking at them. Finished quilts make me happy too though, and so I hope you can find the time to get to those three quilts. That would be so awesome to get three new quilts done! Wow. Thanks for sharing on Wednesday Wait Loss.
I love a good scrappy quilt. You show two lovely ones in progress. I quilt but rarely finish big ones.
I would love to own a long arm and then there would be no stopping me!!
That pastel quilt just screams SPRING! Very nice!
Spring indeed with the pastel top! What a terrific use of scraps!
Awesome scrappy quilt tops!!
