When I was in the States a few months back I visited this wonderful quilt store called Pink Castle Fabrics in Ann Arbour Michigan. It was so fun seeing fabrics that I don’t see at my local quilt store. I fell in love with some Alison Glass Sun Print Mercury Fabric and couldn’t resist buying a few of her scrumptious prints.
I was planning to make another version of this quit with them and some pale grey background material:
However thanks to some sewing and cutting mistakes, that quilt was not about to be repeated, at least this time.
So instead I made some friendship stars using the four colours of fabric I had purchased.
Aqua:
Gold
and Red
I have enough background fabric to make 9 of these friendship stars. So the plan is to make them the centre of my quilt. Once they are all sewn together I will figure out how I want to border them.I’m a bit limited with none of my neutral left but that only gives me an excuse to get more creative.
Pretty colours. I can’t wait to see the finished quilt. How big will it be?
Bonnie, the quilt will be baby sized. Somewhere between 36 and 40 inches is my guess. Depends on what i end up doing with the border.
Those stars are so pretty framed with the neutral background. Love the prints!
Gorgeous fabrics, I look forward to seeing this progress!
Lovely fabric, I always like friendship stars. I don’t blame you for not making the other one, I made it after seeing it on Pinterest, no pattern, I don’t even know what it is called, but I made it anyway. In a 12inch version for a block swap???? I was nearly tearing my hair out.
