scrappy happy blocks quilt top

Unfocussed

Posted on June 17, 2020

I had a good day of sewing on Saturday and got this happy blocks quilt top quilted.

I have to say it wasn’t an easy quilting job. My Sapphire’s pressure foot sensor and the walking foot weren’t playing nicely together resulting in the machine stopping and the error message “pressure foot too high” coming on the screen every few minutes.  I finally took off the walking foot and quilted the rest of the quilt with a regular foot. Strangely enough, I didn’t get bunching or have any problems doing that. I found material to bind the quilt and the binding got made but it hasn’t yet been applied to the quilt.

I also made this small bag. It’s called a Easter Egg Tote Bag.

The pattern is from here but the video giving the instructions has vanished.  Even without instructions it was pretty straightforward to put together. The outside material is from a vintage pillowcase and I used some fairly heavy interfacing as a middle layer to give it some body.

After that my sewing and quilting mojo went away. I haven’t done much since which is unusual for me as I’ve been sewing daily ever  since March when I started working from home.  After not sewing Sunday or Monday I was hoping do some sewing or crafting yesterday, if only for fifteen or twenty minutes. But it didn’t happen and I’m feeling unfocussed even though there are started projects I could be working on.  Hopefully, this malaise passes quickly.

I love that quilt…so bright and cheerful for a little one. The bag is a sweet idea too. I was in a bit of a sewing rut until I joined a pincushion link party. I’ve now made four pincushions and am starting my fifth….LOL From nothing to a lot 🙂

It’s not always easy to find inspiration, or motivation to sew, but I hope you will find a way to get your mojo back.

I love your happy blocks quilt! And your bag is lovely (plus good recycling!) I’ve had some no-quilting days lately too. It usually happens to me in summer when I’m busy outside. When I get back to sewing, I’m more inspired than before. Good luck!
